Wedgwood

Wedgwood was founded in 1759 by the English potter, Josiah Wedgwood. His most popular wares included Jasperware, Basaltware, Queensware (Creamware) and Caneware. Each iconic piece included motifs depicting the ancient Greek, Roman and Egyptian mythologies. Other motifs used in Wedgwood's designs incorporated silhouettes of notable individuals including those of nobles, statesmen, politicians and royalty. Josiah Wedgwood, who came from a long line of potters, was one of the wealthiest entrepreneurs of the eighteenth century.
